I agree with your developer, the live updater is not without flaws. Is that all there is too it? Are there changes that need to be made to the database? Joomla 3. Actually you will need to do a lot of manual work - my apologies for the wrong answer. Joomla 2. There are tools out there that can help with such a migration but none of these tools is error-free and if you have a large of website then expect to face a bit of a challenge. You can always try updating your website from the backend of the Joomla website and hopefully it'll work for you we haven't had a case where it actually worked for us, but many people here on the forum say that it has worked for them , but make sure you fully backup your website first both the filesystem and the database.
