Any suggestions or advice is welcome. The JBL's go down to 60 hz, so I figure the EV's should be able to supplement them well enough to 'fill out' the sound a little more on the lower end, but I'm kind of lost beyond that. I'm thinking of experimenting with an active crossover for the subwoofers, but that is something I will also have to figure out as I go along.
If plate amps would be better, then I'm open to that as well. There's even predicted response graphs for the recommended enclosures. But with 4. Personally I probably wouldn't use these for subwoofers due to the very limited displacement potential but they would probably be pretty good in a 2 way with a waveguide tweeter. I wouldn't, but it would be better than the average garbage subs sold in big box stores. Everything about the specs of those drivers makes it look like a low-mid driver for 2 or 3 way mains.
If you wanted to make bass bins for prosound use, I'd say find another driver. But given the monitors you're matching to, I'm guessing you're indoors and probably not looking for PA levels of sub.
Certainly workable, in that case, provided you don't mind some large cabinets. Might see if they sim well in this cabinet? The eminence drivers are similar in intended purpose and parameters. This will work great for crossing over around 60hz. Just a thought. As stated earlier the xmax is what limits your ability to make bass. Using all 4 drivers, you can make quite a bit of it, but it will take a lot of cabinet space.
