When I bought the car a couple of weeks ago only one of the key fobs worked. So today I bought a new battery for the one that didn't work and I still can't get it to work. Argh, yes - you have to do something like disarm the alarm with the other fob, then turn the ignition on, then press the one you've changed the battery in for 5 seconds or something. I'll have a look to see if I can find the manual for my Cobra alarm tonight, and let you know what I find out.

Tried the above on the non working fob and it worked. Then replaced the battery on the working fob and it didn't do the same as the other one.

After messing around with it for a bit and a break for dinner went back after dinner and it worked. Now I have 2 working fobs - Many many thanks. That's lucky - I can't find the manual! Will have a better look tonight though. I've got a feeling it's ended up in with my Renault stuff rather than my Subaru stuff. I have a feeling that if the fobs get out of sync with the car, you can press them about 10 times in quick succession and they get back in line. So after learning a new fob, it might take a few presses to get the codes back in sync.

Just a little update on Cobra alarm, i put new battery in my fob today as the other one was useless. The way i reset it was to press and hold both buttons little one and big one in range of vehicle, until the led on the remote lights up solidly, then press the left butotn twice. That worked for me today. It looks like there might be a couple of ways of re-registering the key fobs. I done it as "Rich R" suggested and it worked for me.

You're the second person who told me to do it your way - So I guess there must be a couple of ways. Odd isn't it. Glad one way worked, bleeding noisy alarms they are. You need to be a member in order to leave a comment. Sign up for a new account in our community. It's easy!

Is there any kind of "registration" process when fitting a new battery? I understand that most cobra alarms have the same functions. Can anybody please help??
