ARTHUR SCHOPENHAUER PARERGA Y PARALIPOMENA PDF

Arthur Schopenhauer traveled in childhood throughout Europe and lived for a time in Goethe's Weimar, where his mother had established a salon that attracted many of Europe's leading intellectuals. As a young man, Schopenhauer studied at the University of Gottingen and in Berlin, where he attended the lectures of Fichte and Schleiermacher. Schopenhauer's first work was The Fourfold Root of the Principle of Sufficient Reason , followed by a treatise on the physiology of perception, On Vision and Colors When Schopenhauer wrote his principal work, The World as Will and Idea , he was confident that it was a work of great importance that would soon win him fame, but in this he was badly disappointed. In he arranged to hold a series of philosophical lectures at the same time as those of the newly arrived professor Hegel, whom Schopenhauer despised calling him, among other creative epithets, an "intellectual Caliban".

La idea del autor es proponer un camino intermedio entre el estoicismo y el maquiavelismo. Sep 01, Louis rated it it was amazing.

Surely one of the very best books I have ever heard, it is definitely in my top 3 or 4 ever along with the Letters by Seneca and the Meditations by Marcus Aurelius. Nothing else comes close. Some people found the section on duelling 'boring', but I think it's more relevant than ever.

Substitute 'dueling' with 'conflict' of any kind, and now you have total relevance. The section called 'Counsels And Maxims' is an absolute gem. I review it every few months. Apr 06, L Daniel rated it it was amazing. Classic, this isn't self evident for being not known to people.

Dec 12, Andrew Hunt rated it it was amazing Shelves: philosophy. It's like getting to read The World as Will and Representation for the first time all over again, complete with fresh new ideas. Its sole flaw is Schopenhauer's tendency to beat a dead horse at times, especially when he discusses the virtues of solitude.

The essay on spirit seeing made me revise my views of Schopenhauer's philosophy. Apr 07, Stas Sajin rated it it was amazing. Schopenhauer would be an unknown entity for us if not for this book. Parerga and Paralipomena: Volume One

Parerga and Paralipomena Greek for "Appendices" and "Omissions", respectively; German : Parerga und Paralipomena is a collection of philosophical reflections by Arthur Schopenhauer published in The collection is divided into two volumes, covering first the parerga and thereafter the paralipomena to that philosophy. The parerga are six extended essays intended as supplementary to the author's thought. The paralipomena , short ruminations divided by topic into thirty-one subheadings, cover material hitherto unaddressed by the philosopher but deemed by him to be complementary to the parerga. In light of the unenthusiastic reception of the philosopher's earlier publications, publishers were reluctant to commit to this, his last major work.
