The prayer dates back to the first century and is the product of a Kabalistic rabbi — Rabbi Nehonia. After taking each first letter of every word results a 42 letter-name which is said, by Kabalistic scholars, to be comprising the essence of the creation. Also, the letter name comprises the name of God. Receive our prayer, the prayer of your people, elevate us, and purify us, great one. Please o mighty one.
Keep us safe, protect us from harm and save us. Bless us, give us strength with your grace, reward us and have mercy on us. O great one with your powers, guide your congregation with kindness. Superior, the one and only, come back to your people, people who worship you and remember your holiness.
Accept our plea hear our bitterly cry. Each line of this prayer can be interpreted as a DNA sequence which transmits a different type of energy than the previous one; each type of energy can be thus used in solving a different kind of problem.
In the following paragraphs we shall analyze each line of the prayer and see which type of energy it transmits. The second line entrusts upon the user the power to control negative events and even move them forward in the future. The seventh and final line is also important as it helps one find a certain strength within to be able to start life all over, should that be necessary. The prayer should be repeated all throughout the day, when one is faced with a more difficult task, or tough feelings or is simply in need of strength and courage to overcome a hard moment.
It is a general fact that people extract their strength and willingness to deal with everything in their lives by addressing a superiorbeing. This realm can open infinite possibilities for those looking for them, as well as introduce them to peace, serenity, knowledge, inspiration and abundance. The strength of the prayer resides in the combination of letters, colors and attributes.
This combination has been highly appreciated by Kabbalists throughout time and, given the many struggles people face today, the prayer appears to be even more necessary in contemporary days. Its initial goal was to lift the individual above the five known senses and above the material world surrounding him and introduce him to the spiritual world which will provide the answers and guidance he needs.
It has become a symbol which one would rather carry with him, or if not possible find it in the synagogue, where he is looking for strength. The Letter Name , apart from being an indicator of the presence of God, also tells the story of the march from slavery to freedom of the Jewish people.
It tells the story of the exodus from Egypt, a place where the Israelites were slaves, both to the Egyptians as well as their inner selves. After leaving Egypt, the external layer of slavery was left behind, but the inner layer remained. This meant that they had to undergo a different journey, one of initiation, one which would help them lose the inner slavery stage as well. In the Kabbalah, the reciting of Ana BeKoach is meant to help one achieve the inner peace. That is why, during the reciting, one should not think of selfish wishes or personal ones.
This means that eventually, one will have his own wishes accomplished, but the accomplishment shall not end with him, but continue towards the others. The energy contained in these lines is meant to flow from one another and reach everyone.
This is the reason why, in the first place, the prayer focuses on energy, as energy is fluid and can be easily transmitted from one person to another. Moreover, it is a prayer providing one with strength and the capacity to fight the bad elements of life without tainting his soul.
However, should the fight not have the desired outcome, the same prayer helps one take life in his hands and start all over, which is highly important as well. The third line offers one the power to take decisions correctly and in a balanced manner. The fourth one provides endurance to those who need to go through hard events.
The fifth line brings along a certain clairvoyant energy that allows one to foresee the future. The sixth line helps one achieve peace and strength.
