James L. Oschman is President of Nature's Own Research Association and is exploring the scientific basis for complementary and alternative medicines. He is also a consultant in the design of medical devices, relying on his experience in biophysics and complementary medicine and serves on the scientific advisory boards for several organizations. Energy medicine involves energy of particular frequencies and intensities, and wave shapes and other characteristics that stimulate the repair and regeneration of one or more tissues.

It addresses a growing interest in the field of mind-body medicine and the role of natural energy forces within the body in maintaining normal health and wellbeing. This in turn has lead to interest in how these energies or forces may be channelled to assist in healing and the restoration of normal health. Apr 03, Kathy rated it liked it Recommends it for: those seeking scientific validation of alternative healing modalities. Shelves: energy-medicine. Not worth owning, but great to review and restore our faith in laying on of hands healing. Dec 14, Kris Wood rated it it was ok. Now that was a difficult book to read Looking for my next CST-oriented book to read.
James Oschman spared no time and effort writing this book. His book is a true testament of his amazingly huge knowledge of the subject. I must admit that I couldn't always follow that biochemistry in the book since I'm an engineer, but the physics part was more then interesting and easy to follow. Oschman is truly passionate about the subject, and you can feel that all the way.
I couldn't help myself to share this passion, and let others around me taste that as well. The book is well structured, st James Oschman spared no time and effort writing this book.
The book is well structured, starting with some science history and then gradually describing topics like electromagnetic field measurement, energy circuits in our bodies, energy medicine, healing by touch and movement, acupuncture, essential oils, all supported by an insane number of references.
It was also nice to have practical tips for all of us, who wish to help nature to do its job, by letting our body heal itself in a more effective way.
The book is especially relevant for me, since I'm working on a diagnostic device based on the electromagnetic fields of the human body. The book isn't cheap or short, but you will not regret reading it! Very interesting material. The living matrix of connective tissue and rapid transmittal of information faster than the random movement and exchange of proteins within the cell and intracellular medium. The effectiveness of very low frequency electricity Intriguing: the chapter on grounding earthing and marine plasma.
Dec 07, Kim Zinkowski rated it really liked it. It is frustrating on one hand because the research is so incomplete in some areas -- so much we don't yet know. It is frustrating on the other hand because so much of the medical establishment has woodenly refused to acknowledge the facts that are painfully well-established, presumably for fear of being associated with quacks.
But it turns out that on some issues, the so-called quacks were right all along. It has taken the scientific establishment a century or so to invent the instruments needed to measure what's happening, but the clinicians of years ago already knew the treatments were effective.
We are starting to figure out why. Nov 01, Dennis Dupuis rated it liked it. I enjoyed and needed this book at the time I read it. The "scientific" aspects of energy medicine were all but lost in the mire of personalized ideologies and myth surrounding practices of energy sharing at the time.
They still are for the most part. This book helped in the grounding of some of the modalities, the dispelling of others, and gave me a basis to begin differentiating the two with something more than my "gut. Jun 21, Sally Smith rated it it was amazing.
This book is a must-read for any intelligent person who cares about health. It, and several other books, is changing the way I understand how our bodies work. Oschman gives the evidence for the power of frequency oscillations in shaping our health in an objective way; he has no personal agenda he is pushing.
It is radical and revolutionary. Good to know the wonderful universe. Learned about important concepts to earthing, essential oils, reiki, qi-gong, the important medium that is water. Everything leads back the Nature. Feb 21, Angel Hill rated it did not like it. Too Technical. Oct 07, Henedchoueiry rated it really liked it.
Great introduction to energy medicine! Very enlightening and interesting as it is based on scientific studies.
Looking forward to choose my next read after this one!! Aug 18, Nancy rated it liked it. Detailed historic and scientific basis for proof energy healing works - not that I had any doubts.
A call to researchers to consider new possibilities. Dec 29, Jaime added it. It's a little thick so far, but I've heard him speak and he was electric, so I'm hoping this book can back me up a little. Traditional Medicine, Ethnomedicine and Natural Therapies
These two books give the most skeptical academic scientists a theoretical basis for exploring the physiology and biophysics of energy medicines. Oschman has both the academic credentials and the background in alternative therapies to carry out his explorations. He has degrees in Biophysics and Biology from the University of Pittsburgh. He has worked in major research labs around the world.
Dr. James Oschman
Biological Sciences, University of Pittsburgh, Biophysics, University of Pittsburgh, Academic research involved the structure and function of cells and tissues, with particular reference to fluid and ion transport and the role of calcium in control of cell functions. Subsequent research present involves explorations of the scientific basis for complementary and alternative medicines. Modern research science is validating and explaining the beneficial effects of a wide range of complementary, alternative and integrative therapies. Jim's writings synthesize the science and the experience of a variety of bodywork, energetic, and movement therapies.
